Wan 3.0 is the newest model in Alibaba's Wan video line (Tongyi Wanxiang, from Tongyi Lab). Its public beta opened on August 6, 2026, and Alibaba launched it officially on August 24, 2026. It generates 2 to 30 seconds of video in one pass at 480P, 720P or 1080P, with voices, effects and music made at the same time. Wan 3.0 is not open source, so you use it through Alibaba Cloud or a service like this one. This site runs Wan 3.0, its premium tier Wan 3.0 Prime and the previous Wan 2.7 in the cloud: write a prompt, add a first or last frame, or give it reference images, clips and audio, then download the MP4. Developers get the same models over a REST API. ### Wan 3.0 at a glance - Made by: Alibaba's Tongyi Lab, as part of the Wan (Tongyi Wanxiang) model line. Model id: wan3.0-video. Wan 3.0 is Alibaba's newest video model, launched on August 24, 2026. It makes 2 to 30 seconds of video with sound from text, a first frame or reference images, clips and audio. Wan 3 API runs it, along with Wan 3.0 Prime and Wan 2.7, in the browser and over an API. ### Is this the official Wan site? No. Wan 3 API is an independent service, not affiliated with or endorsed by Alibaba. Alibaba's own Wan app is at wan.video. Wan and Wan 3.0 are trademarks of their owners. ### Can I try Wan 3.0 for free? Yes, to start. A new account gets 0 free credits, enough for one 5-second Wan 3.0 video at 480P. After that, videos use credits from one-time packs: 300 credits for $9.99. Failed renders cost nothing. ### How much does a video cost? You pay per second of video: from 3 credits a second (Wan 3.0, 480P) up to 17 a second (Wan 3.0 Prime, 1080P). A 5-second Wan 3.0 clip at 480P is 15 credits, and the form shows the exact total before you generate. ### What's the difference between Wan 3.0, Wan 3.0 Prime and Wan 2.7? Wan 3.0 and Wan 3.0 Prime take the same inputs (text, frames, references), make 2 to 30 seconds at 480P to 1080P and generate sound; Prime is Alibaba's premium tier and costs more per second. Wan 2.7 is the previous generation: 720P or 1080P, 2 to 15 seconds, from a prompt or a first frame, with no reference mode. ### How long can a video be? Up to 30 seconds on Wan 3.0 and Wan 3.0 Prime, and up to 15 seconds on Wan 2.7. Every model starts at 2 seconds. With a reference video, the output plus the reference video can't be longer than 30 seconds. ### Do videos have sound? Yes, on Wan 3.0 and Wan 3.0 Prime. They generate voices, effects and music together with the picture, timed to the action; describe the sound you want in the prompt. For sound, pick one of these rather than Wan 2.7. ### Can I turn my image into a video? Yes. Choose Image, add a first frame (and optionally a last frame), and describe what happens. The video takes the shape of your first image. All three models support it. ### What are reference images, videos and audio? Files the model follows for a character, style, motion or voice without using them as frames: up to 10 images, 5 video clips and 5 audio clips on Wan 3.0 and Wan 3.0 Prime. Clips are 2 to 15 seconds each and 15 seconds in total per kind; audio needs at least one image or clip. ### Is Wan 3.0 open source? No. Alibaba hasn't released Wan 3.0's weights; you use it through Alibaba Cloud or services like Wan 3 API. The last open-weight Wan model is Wan 2.2, released in 2025 under Apache 2.0. ### How do I write a good Wan 3.0 prompt? Describe one timeline in order: the subject and action, the camera move (push in, pan, arc shot, tracking shot), the light, then the sound: spoken lines word for word, plus effects and music. In reference mode, name uploads as Image 1, Video 1 or Audio 1. Our prompt guide has copy-ready examples. ### What happens if a video fails? Your credits go back to your balance automatically. Requests the provider rejects, for example for content, are not charged either. ### Can I use the videos commercially? Yes, the videos you make are yours to use, as long as your prompt and files don't infringe anyone's rights. See the terms for details. ### What happens to my uploads? They're used only to make your video and deleted 30 days later. Finished videos stay in your history until you delete your account. ## API REST API base URL: https://api.wan3api.org/v1. Authenticate with `Authorization: Bearer sk-…` (create keys at https://wan3api.org/api-keys). Renders are async tasks: POST /videos/generations, then poll GET /tasks/{id} or pass callback_url. - [Wan Video API Quickstart](https://wan3api.org/docs): Create an API key, submit a Wan 3.0 text-to-video task, poll it and download the MP4 in three requests. cURL, JavaScript and Python examples. - [API Authentication and Rate Limits](https://wan3api.org/docs/authentication): Authenticate with a Bearer API key, keep keys safe and stay within the per-key rate limit. - [Create Video API: Text, Image and Reference to Video](https://wan3api.org/docs/video-generation): POST /v1/videos/generations: every request field, the text, frames and reference modes, idempotency keys and what a render costs. - [Task Status API: Poll, List and Delete Renders](https://wan3api.org/docs/tasks): GET /v1/tasks/:id to poll a render, list recent tasks, delete finished ones, and the task object every endpoint returns. - [Callbacks: Get Notified When a Video Is Ready](https://wan3api.org/docs/callbacks): Pass callback_url and we POST the finished task to your server: payload, retries and how to verify it. - [Wan Video Models and API Pricing per Second](https://wan3api.org/docs/models): Wan 3.0, Wan 3.0 Prime and Wan 2.7 in the API: resolutions, lengths, modes and the price per second in credits and US dollars. - [API Error Codes and Retries](https://wan3api.org/docs/errors): Every HTTP status and error code the API returns, what each means, and which ones are safe to retry. ### Create a video: POST /videos/generations Submits a render and returns the task at once. Credits are charged when the task is created and given back automatically if it fails. - `model` (string, required): Model id from GET /models. - `prompt` (string, required): What should happen in the video, up to 5000 characters. - `mode` (string): text, frames or reference. Left out, it follows the media you send: frame URLs mean frames, reference URLs mean reference, none means text. - `duration` (integer): Output length in whole seconds. Defaults to 5 s, clamped into the model's range. - `resolution` (string): One of the model's resolutions, such as 480P or 1080P. Defaults to the cheapest. - `aspect_ratio` (string): 16:9, 9:16, 1:1 and so on. Ignored in frames mode, where the first frame sets the shape. - `first_frame_url` (string): Frames mode: public HTTPS image the video starts on. - `last_frame_url` (string): Frames mode: image the video ends on. - `image_urls` (string[]): Reference mode: images of the characters, products or style to keep. - `video_urls` (string[]): Reference mode: clips for motion or camera. Uploaded seconds are billed. - `audio_urls` (string[]): Reference mode: audio to follow. - `callback_url` (string): Public HTTPS URL we POST the finished task to. We download each URL when you submit, so it must be public HTTPS and answer within 20 seconds. Sizes and lengths follow the same limits as uploads in the web app. A URL we can't fetch returns 400 media_unreachable before anything is charged. Send an Idempotency-Key header (any unique string, up to 255 characters) to make retries safe. A repeat with the same key returns the original task with the header Idempotent-Replayed: true and charges nothing. ```bash curl -X POST "https://api.wan3api.org/v1/videos/generations" \ -H "Authorization: Bearer $API_KEY" \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -H "Idempotency-Key: $(uuidgen)" \ -d '{ "model": "wan-3", "prompt": "A red fox runs through fresh snow at sunrise, slow motion, cinematic", "duration": 5, "resolution": "480P", "aspect_ratio": "16:9" }' ``` ### Tasks - GET /tasks/{id}: Returns the task and checks on the render if it's still processing. Poll every 5 to 10 seconds. - GET /tasks?limit=20: Your newest tasks first, from the API and the web app alike. limit is 1 to 50, default 20. - DELETE /tasks/{id}: Deletes a finished task and its video file. A task that's still processing returns 409 task_processing. - status `processing`: Submitted and rendering. progress goes from 0 to 99. - status `succeeded`: Done. video_url is set. - status `failed`: Didn't render. error says why and refunded is true: the credits are back on your balance. ### Callbacks A JSON task object, the same one GET /tasks/:id returns, with Content-Type: application/json and an X-Task-Id header. Answer with any 2xx within 10 seconds. On a timeout or 5xx we try 3 times in all; a 4xx stops retries. Each task is delivered once at most, so keep polling as a fallback. Callbacks aren't signed. Treat the body as a hint: read the task id, then call GET /tasks/:id with your key and act on that response. ### Models and price per second (credits) - `wan-3` (Wan 3.0): 2–30 s, modes text/frames/reference; 480P 3, 720P 6, 1080P 11 credits per second. - `wan-3-prime` (Wan 3.0 Prime): 2–30 s, modes text/frames/reference; 480P 5, 720P 9, 1080P 17 credits per second. - `wan-2-7` (Wan 2.7): 2–15 s, modes text/frames; 720P 6, 1080P 9 credits per second. - GET /models (no key) returns the same data. GET /balance returns your credits. ### Errors Errors are `{"error":{"code","message"}}`. - 400 `invalid_request`: The body or a header is invalid; message says which field. - 400 `media_unreachable`: A media URL couldn't be downloaded, or isn't a supported file. - 401 `invalid_api_key`: The key is missing, malformed or revoked. - 402 `insufficient_credits`: Not enough credits for this render. Nothing was charged. - 403 `account_disabled`: The account is suspended. - 404 `not_found`: No such task on your account, or no such route. - 409 `task_processing`: The task is still rendering, so it can't be deleted yet. - 422 `content_blocked`: The prompt or media was blocked by the content filter. Nothing was charged. - 429 `rate_limited`: Too many requests from this key. Wait for Retry-After. - 429 `too_many_running_tasks`: Too many renders processing at once. Wait for one to finish. - 502 `upstream_error`: The render service failed to accept the task. Credits were refunded. - 503 `service_unavailable`: The API or the model is temporarily off. - Failed tasks (refunded): `content_blocked`, `media_rejected`, `timeout`, `service_unavailable`, `failed`. - Each key can make 60 requests a minute. Over that you get 429 rate_limited with a Retry-After header. Separately, an account can have 3 renders processing at once; more returns 429 too_many_running_tasks. ## Pricing One-time credit packs (no subscription; purchased credits don't expire): - 300 credits: $9.99 - 1000 credits: $29.99 - 2500 credits: $69.99 An account's first full Premium video at 480p costs at most 300 credits. ## Policies - Uploaded photos and generated videos are private: they are never published, shown to other users or used in examples or marketing. - Only use photos of yourself or people who agreed to appear; photos of public figures are rejected. - [Privacy policy](https://wan3api.org/privacy) · [Terms of service](https://wan3api.org/terms) · [Refund policy](https://wan3api.org/refund-policy) · [Cookie policy](https://wan3api.org/cookie-policy) - [About](https://wan3api.org/about) · [Contact](https://wan3api.org/contact)
